Unloading and Parking at South Side

As some of you already know, parking in any "hip" place within the Dallas City Limits is no picnic. It's the price you pay for being where everyone wants to be. I say all of that to say, parking might be a little tricky at South Side this upcoming Friday and Saturday.

If you are coming to unload on Friday, they are requesting that we only park by the front entrance if we have something heavy, large, or otherwise cumbersome to carry. They have asked that if what you are unloading is heavy, large or cumbersome, park at the main entrance, unload your stuff, promptly go park your car, then come back and take care of any unfinished business. The concierge at South Side is apparently very busy on Friday nights.

If what you are bringing is not terribly heavy and/or cumbersome, you may search for parking on the street (at a meter) or in the parking lot (which is very crowded) or across the street at Sala, which is a restaurant that has changed names several times in as many years (Sala has a large parking lot).

For those of you who are directionally challenged like me, I suggest getting directions off of google maps. The address to South Side is:
1409 S. Lamar
Dallas, TX 75215

Here is a map of South Side's location relative to Downtown Dallas:

It's easiest to get to off of I-30.

Here's a map of the parking lots that are available for us to use. There's also metered parking along the street.

If you're coming to the reception on Saturday evening, the parking situation will be the same. Occasionally, South Side has valet parking, but not always and I don't know if it will be available to you on Saturday night or not. Please let us know if you have any questions! We're looking forward to seeing you all there!

2010 DAEA Professional Show

Dates: September 10th - September 10th
Times: 10th - 4:30pm - 7pm (drop off)
11th - 7pm - 11pm (dessert reception, open to public)
12th - 12pm - 2pm (pick up)

We are so excited about this year's Professional Show! We can't wait to show off how talented Dallas ISD art teachers are! Here's how it works: If you'd like to participate in the show, you'll need to become a member. If you haven't joined yet, don't fret! You can email Kristen Rice at krice@dallasisd.org to get the membership form electronically.

Then print it, fill it out, and send it via interoffice mail to Polk Elementary, attn: K. Rice, box 332 or you can join when you drop off your artwork. It costs $20 to be a member of DAEA for the entire year.

Next, you'll need to email us and let us know how many pieces you'd like to enter in the show, the titles of the piece(s), medium, size, and price (if you're willing to sell). On the 10th, you'll bring your pieces and $5 per piece to officially enter the show. The show will be at South Side on Lamar in their Blue Room. We'll be in this room during drop off and pick up.

The address at South Side is 1409 South Lamar, Dallas, TX 75215. If you have any questions, please email or call Kristen Rice, DAEA President, at krice@dallasisd.org or 214-729-2499. We look forward to seeing you there!!
